Background
Stuart joined Clendons after admission as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand, and his graduations from the Universities of Otago and Canterbury, all in 2007.
Stuart studied intellectual property law, civil litigation, information technology law and general commercial law papers. He is particularly interested in copyright law, the commercialization and licensing of intellectual property, and pharmaceutical law, and was awarded by the New Zealand Institute of Patent Attorneys for his research into market and statutory solutions to biotechnology transfer.
Stuart majored in pharmacology for his BBiomedSc, and also trained as an intern physiotherapist. He has a keen interest in fine art, is an accomplished composer and paints.
Professional Associations / Membership
NZBio New Zealand's biotechnology industry body, which promotes high quality intellectual property and effective technology transfer within associated sectors, especially agritechnology and healthcare. Stuart has advised international distributors of agri-chemicals in protecting their trade marks, and prepared domestic and international distribution and licensing agreements for manufacturers of health beverages and precision instruments.
